My approach to composing music for TV drama, documentary and film is simple: don't just aim to do the job, although this is important - aim to do the job sublimely. Push limits. Expand the scope of what is possible. Tailor what you are doing precisely to the project whilst adding as much as you can.

At its best, incidental music expresses the meaning of the scene, drives the narrative, communicates mood, emotion, personality and place, naturalizes and motivates the images. Often, less is more. To these ends, I have been successfully composing original music for BBC1 and BBC2 Daytime and Primetime, Channel 4 and Al Jazeera for the last ten years.

I use real instruments combined with the finest sampled instruments, synthesizers and found natural sounds, working these together after careful analysis and research to produce scores which dovetail as seamlessly as possible with the project in hand and the director's and producer's intentions whilst having an integrity and beauty of their own. Have a look around the site for more about my method and examples of my work, and then please feel free to get in touch.
