One of my first commissions, this project involved composing music to run during several Art exhibitions featuring the work of internationally-acclaimed visual artist and surface designer Mark Finzel (see multiple refererences on Google). The exhibition was entitled 'Mirrorscape' and featured a whole range of images centred around the embedding of a mirrored obelisk into various landscapes. The obelisk had four sides and hence I used a quadruple-tap echo on all of the sounds (you can hear this most clearly 'reflecting' the intial sound according to a complex, irregular rhythm in Rize Mass 1 but it is present throughout on this sound, on brass and on percussion). The effect is to produce a dense, textured 'dance' feel to the early tracks which morphs through a whole gamut of emotions to a triumphant close with Rize Mass 6.
